Welcome and goodbye messages
Greeting new members, with an optional image, and roles assigned on join.
TalciGrade can post a message when a member joins and when one leaves. It can also send a direct message and assign roles automatically.
Both messages are disabled until they are turned on, so nothing is posted before it has been configured.
Placeholders
These are replaced automatically in any message:
| Placeholder | Replaced with |
|---|---|
{user} |
A mention of the member |
{user.name} |
Their username |
{server} |
The server name |
{membercount} |
The current member count |
"Welcome {user}, you are member number {membercount}!" becomes "Welcome @Sam, you are member number 412!"
The welcome image
An image can be posted alongside the welcome message. It shows the member's avatar and name with a title and subtitle, over a colour or a background image of your choice.
The image is optional in a technical sense too: if it cannot be generated, the welcome message is still sent without it.
Roles on join
Up to ten roles can be assigned automatically when a member joins. Bots are skipped.
This requires Manage Roles, and the TalciGrade role must sit above the roles being assigned.
Members who join while TalciGrade is offline are given their roles when it reconnects, so a restart does not leave anyone without them.
Automatic roles can be paused during a raid, so members arriving in one are not given a role. See Raids and lockdown.
Setting it up
Open Welcome & Goodbye on the Dashboard to enable each message, choose its channel, write the text, and set the image and automatic roles.
