Protected channels

Removing the ability to delete or edit the channels that matter most.

Updated 9 Aug 2026

Protected channels are the ones a server cannot afford to lose: announcements, rules, the mod log, and often general.

Protecting a channel removes the ability to delete or edit it. TalciGrade changes the channel's permissions so that nobody can, apart from administrators and the server owner. It is a permission change, not a warning system.

TalciGrade protects its own channels automatically: the mod log, the quarantine channel and ticket transcripts. Any other channel can be added.

Why administrators are the exception

Admins (people with the Discord Administrator permission) and the server owner ignore channel permissions completely. That is how Discord works, and no bot can change it.

The lock stops everyone else outright. They cannot delete the channel, and the button is not there for them.

The two protections below exist only for the accounts the lock cannot stop.

If an administrator deletes one

TalciGrade posts an alert and recreates the channel as an empty copy.

The messages in it are gone. Discord provides no way to restore deleted messages.

If someone tries to unlock it

A member who cannot delete a channel could instead try to grant themselves permission on that one channel.

TalciGrade monitors every permission change on a protected channel. If anyone grants themselves or a role the ability to manage it, the change is reversed immediately and they are quarantined.

What this does not cover

A compromised administrator account can still delete a protected channel, because Discord allows it.

Anti-nuke covers that case, and will quarantine them once they have deleted a few.

Setting it up

Open Security > Anti-Nuke on the Dashboard and add channels to the protected list.
