Who can change what
Role-based access, granted per server, granting nothing by default.
TalciGrade does not decide who can use it based on Discord permissions alone. You create roles in the Dashboard and choose exactly what each one can do.
Access by default
| Who | What they can do |
|---|---|
| The server owner | Everything, always |
| Anyone with the Discord Administrator Permission | Everything, always |
| Everyone else | Only what has been granted to them |
Nobody else has any access at first. Until roles are assigned, only the owner and administrators can do anything, including moderation.
Why access is split up
"Can ban members" and "can change the settings that ban members" are different levels of trust.
A moderator can be given the first without the second, so someone who handles day-to-day reports cannot alter the protection that catches an attack.
Granting access
Go to Permissions tab, make a role, tick what it should be allowed to do, then assign it to a Discord role or to specific members.
If someone has more than one of your roles, they get everything from all of them added together (similar to how Discord does them).
Two-factor authentication
As the server owner you can require 2FA for anyone managing your server from the Dashboard. If you turn that on and someone does not have it set up, they will be asked to before they can open your server's settings.
Some sensitive actions ask for a code again even when already signed in.
