Quarantine

Removing someone from every channel without banning them, reversibly.

Updated 9 Aug 2026

Quarantining a member removes all of their roles and replaces them with a single locked role. That role cannot view or send messages anywhere.

The member stays in the server but cannot participate.

This is TalciGrade's default response to an attack because it can be reversed. Running /unquarantine @user restores exactly the roles that were removed.

The quarantine role

TalciGrade creates the role automatically the first time it is needed. It can be renamed, recoloured and restyled freely.

The role is denied access in every channel individually. This matters: a role denied only at server level can still be granted access by a single channel's own permissions.

Channels created later are locked automatically.

You can pick one channel where quarantined members can talk, so they have somewhere to appeal or just a place for you to be able to find them without digging thru logs.

Protection against tampering

The most direct way to escape a quarantine is to attack the role itself, so both cases are handled.

If the role is deleted, TalciGrade recreates it exactly as it was, reapplies it to everyone who was quarantined, re-locks every channel, and quarantines whoever deleted it.

If the role is edited to restore permissions, the change is reversed and the editor is quarantined.

A trusted member's change is kept instead, and remembered as the new appearance.
